The Wake County Volleyball Club, in association with vh1vball.com, will be hosting the 8th Annual Spike for a Cause charity volleyball tournament on Saturday, September 28th at the RTI Sand Courts and Athletic Fields park in RTP.
The cost for this charity event is $25 per person, adult or junior, with this year's Spike for a Cause held in honor of Mike Lunday, who passed away while playing volleyball locally this year.
Mike was taken from us while playing in a local volleyball league alongside his daughter and amongst friends on August 6, 2013. He was an exemplary role model within his community, serving as a deacon in his church as well as a volunteer volleyball and soccer coach in Mebane and Durham. Mike was an avid surfer and volleyball player and participated for many years in local leagues and tournaments.
Mike lived his life to enrich the lives of others. Mike dreamed of building a Family Life Center in Mebane to bring people together in fellowship and community events. The First Baptist Church of Mebane has initiated the Lunday Fund to raise money to fulfill Mike's dream. With your support, Mike's dream can become a reality.
USAV membership is NOT required, but all participants will be required to sign a waiver. For any other questions regarding the tournament, please contact Matt Lenora.
This year's Spike for a Cause tournament will offer three divisions with two levels each:
- Grass Traditional 4-on-4: Advanced and Recreational Levels
- Grass Reverse Co-ed 4-on-4: Advanced and Recreational Levels
- Sand Co-ed 4-on-4: Advanced and Recreational Levels
Please come out for a fun day of volleyball or make a tax-deductible donation today to the Mike Lunday fund!
